This video will go over a brief history of LVK’s involvement with technology, discuss how we have incorporated these tools in our programs and also to brief you on how to make use of these services for you and your learner.
Here is a brief quiz to test your knowledge! The results of this quiz are not counted towards anything. Have fun!
EXCITING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR FALL 2025
Literacy Volunteers of Kennebec (LVK), Augusta Adult and Community Education (AACE), and
the Capital Area New Mainers Project (CANMP), are coming together to collaborate on a course
to prepare community members to become literacy volunteers supporting multilingual learners
in both one-on-one and group settings. Participants will explore adult learning principles,
tutoring strategies for English Language Learners (ELLs), and best practices for facilitating
community conversation groups that foster language development and cultural connection.
This training is also applicable to tutoring adult basic learners (reading, writing, and technology).
Using I Speak English by Ruth Johnson Colvin (ProLiteracy) as a core resource, this hands-on
training will equip volunteers to confidently support adult learners in navigating daily life,
employment, and community integration through English language learning.
