At Literacy Volunteers of Kennebec, we help adults and their families learn reading and writing skills so they can reach their goals.
- Adults with Low Literacy – Adults who did not complete formal education or need help
with basic reading, writing, and comprehension skills for employment, daily tasks, and
self-sufficiency. - English Language Learners (ELLs) – Immigrants and non-native speakers who need
support in learning English for work, education, and social integration. - Parents and Caregivers – To encourage family literacy, helping them support their
children’s learning while improving their own literacy skills. - Older adults – Those who may need literacy assistance for digital literacy, telehealth
services, staying informed, or maintaining independence. - Workforce Development Participants – Unemployed or underemployed individuals
who need literacy skills for job applications, career advancement, and vocational training.
