Literacy Volunteers partners with Augusta Warming Center

United Way Appeal for Warming CenterBeginning Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 and continuing to Thursday, March 27, 2014, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Augusta (LVA) will be providing the following services to patrons of the Augusta Warming Center:

  • Provide for one-on-one reading tutoring for adults.
  • Assist adults in completing paperwork needed for applications, referrals or access of services.
  • Assist with reading medical instructions, legal paperwork, letters or other individual reading needs.
  • Provide reading support for parents and children, helping parents and children to read together.
  • Hold a reading corner for children/families – 3-3:30 pm on Tuesdays and 11-11:30 am on Thursdays.

Literacy Volunteers will be available Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Please note that LVA closes when there is no school (in Augusta) due to bad weather. Services to the Augusta Warming Center will not be available during those those times.
