LVA will hold two Family Literacy days this summer – July 16th and August 6th – at the Bread of Life Shelter in Augusta.
Affiliate Director, Virginia Marriner, is coordinating closely with Pat Finale at the Shelter to build upon the successes we have had over the previous years. Together LVA and the Shelter will bring fun literacy event s to the guests of the Shelter.
July 16th – We will read “It’s a Good Thing we are Insects” by Allan Fowler. Snacks, learning activities and a language arts lesson based upon the book will follow the reading.
August 6th – We will wrap up our summer program with language arts, activities and snacks related to the book, “Vegetables, Vegetables” by Fay Robinson.
These Family Literacy Days are being held for guests of the Bread of Life Shelter, but volunteers are more than welcome!
Please call the LVA Office to sign up as a Family Literacy Day volunteer. You can work one day or both (July 16th and or August 6th). Volunteers arrive at 8:30 am and we will be all finished by 10:30 am. Call or email for details (207) 626-3440 or firstname.lastname@example.org
